Springtime brings us fresh sunny days that beg for whim and folly. What better way to spend the early colorful season than with a trip to the happiest place on earth?!
Disneyland is a magical place as a child, but the magic doesn’t stop once you grow up. In fact, Disney has a way of taking you back to that care-free state of mind. To be honest, as adults it’s almost necessary to pay this real life “Neverland” an occasional visit just to keep your sanity.
Twice a year (Spring/Fall) there is an event that takes place at Disney. An event that attracts a stylish crowd and allows adults to enjoy the Disney nostalgia in a sophisticated fashion. It’s called Dapper Day. And as the name suggests, it’s a day to step out in true style. I participated in my first Dapper Day recently and had such a splendid time that I’m prepared to make it a bi-annual tradition myself. It was so neat to see the park transform into a fashionable affaire. This year’s Spring Dapper Day broke the records to how many park goers got in the dapper spirit. It was a lovely sight to see!
Strolling down the lanes at Disney…
Disney parks are beautifully designed to such detail that they provide the perfect setting to every magical moment you choose to capture. We used the stunning backdrop of the classic “It’s A Small World” attraction for our Dapper Day photos. The pastels tied in perfectly with our spring ensembles.
Dapper Day is more than simply dressing to impress. The creators of the event also organize activities and gatherings to keep things interesting and encourage the camaraderie between fellow dappers. This spring, they had an impressive agenda which included: A retro Disney Slide show hosted by Charles Phoenix, a Dapper Day styling Suite, a Pop Up Vintage Shop, the Dapper Day Boutique, Mark Twain mixer, Professional Fashion Sketches among other activities. My favorite part was ending the night at the “Dapper Derby,” where all the Dappers met up for a ride on the antique horses at the historic Fantasyland carrousel. The glowing lights and nostalgic carrousel sounds made for a stunning close to this magical experience.
Annette’s casual Disney outfits included a Minnie Mouse blush sequin tunic paired with a gray easy fit blazer and an oversized sequin bow headband by forever 21 and a fresh blue Seersucker dress by Jessica Simpson.
Fidel’s Dapper outfit consisted of the slim fit Saddle brown suit by H&M. He paired it with a crisp white button up and pink bow tie by Nordstrom. His look was topped off in true dapper style with a handsome side part hairstyle and brown bottom less eyeglasses.
Christian’s dapper look involved a lightweight seersucker suit jacket and pink chinos by Express. Mint bow tie by American Apparel, wooden bear cufflinks from Etsy and tan fedora.
Annette’s floral fit and flare dress cinched perfectly at the waist to create a classic silhouette by H&M. She paired it with an eyelash lace blouse to add a little more femininity by f21. A beautiful floral crown handmade by Annette pulled together this whimsical springtime look.
