our annette is a soon to be bride!
this past weekend was the beginning of a beautiful new chapter in annette and her future groom's lives. i, ismerai had the pleasure of helping fidel plan and coordinate this magical moment for annette. fidel and i both know what moves annette's heart. we both knew the proposal had to scream "annette" we came up with the whimsical dream scape and knew this was it! her family and close friends helped in the set up. annette and fidel are both such lovely people that it was an honor to help create this moment for them. her and fidel are everything, and i can't wait for them to start this new chapter. (i'm getting teary here) i asked annette to give us her version of how the day went for her. so here it is. - ismerai
She said YES!
i am the happiest girl in the world! the man of my dreams enchanted me with his love, got down on one knee and asked me to be completely his. it was a proposal for the books and i couldn’t be more thrilled.
the day began pretty ordinary. earlier in the week the handsome had suggested we have a valentine’s re-do. the gift he wanted to give me for valentine’s day hadn’t arrived on time and since it finally came in, he wanted to have a special evening to celebrate. he also said “i know you’ve been saying you need new shoes, so before dinner we’ll do some shopping.” so needless to say i was excited. i mean the promise of shopping, a fancy dinner date, and a special gift from my handsome in a tailored suit…it couldn’t get any better.
the evening went as expected. between tory burch, zara and h&m we had done some major damage. he didn’t complain once about being that boyfriend that followed his girl around the stores. he was patient when i said “i think i should try it on” and was very generous with the lovey dovey compliments. it was time for dinner when all of the sudden our plans had to change. he apparently got message from my sister that he had left my gift at my home earlier and said it was very important i open it before dinner. i should’ve known this was the plan all along.
we arrived and it seemed no one was home. no cars in the driveway, lights off. “you’ll just open your gift and we’ll go to dinner.” he said. we walked in and as we made our way to the back of the house i saw the glow from the backyard and it hit me. hard. it was really happening! we walked outside and i began to cry. more like sob. it was such an overwhelming wave of emotion that i couldn’t contain any of it. cat power’s “sea of love” played as we stood surrounded by glowing lights and countless pink balloons. it was beautiful. a magical sight, but all i could do was focus on him, my love; the man of my dreams.
he got down on his knee and opened a box to reveal the daintiest single strand pave crystal watch, my valentine’s gift. it was lovely. then he reached inside his coat pocket for another box. this one was much smaller in a luxe blue velvet finish. as he opened it, my eyes were so filled with tears that i couldn’t make out what it looked like. all i could tell was that it sparkled, a lot! i wiped away my tears to see the dazzling round diamond with a pave halo in the prettiest vintage styled setting. it was more than i could have ever hoped for. i cried like a baby, he held me close. then he asked that his helpers come out and all of the sudden our family members and close friends came from out of nowhere. that’s when the ugly crying came out. i hurried back into his embrace and cried with his arms holding me tightly. cried of joy, of love, of thanks and of overwhelming emotion.
i still feel like i’m living in a dream. someone pinch me quick! i’m the luckiest girl in the world and i’m so ready for this adventure that awaits us. i now have a fiancé! it’s been eight years in the making and well worth the wait. my heart is full.
Be sure to check back for all things wedding with Annette and Fidel.
